About Michigan Queer Aquatix

MINQX is Michigan’s Premiere LGBTQIA+ Masters Swim Team!

Our Mission:

MINQX aims to pick up the torch (goggles?… flaming goggles!) once held by the former local masters swim teams: Ann Arbor Queer Aquatics (A2QUA) and Team Detroit Aquatics. We are an inclusive USMS team welcoming swimmers of all identities and ability levels. We are a growing team with big ambitions, including participating in the annual IGLA championships and Gay Games.

MINQX offers all swimmers the opportunity to swim, train, compete, race, and socialize with a group of supportive teammates.

We hope to grow our workout offerings as our attendance increases. If you’d like to see workouts at additional times/days/locations, please come out to our current workouts and let us know you’re interested!

Why MINQX?

Well, apart from being key letters in our name: MIchigaN Queer AquatiX…

Mink:

  • A slender-bodied, semiaquatic mammal known for its luxurious and glossy coat, bushy tail, and partially webbed feet. Minks are excellent swimmers and fierce predators.

Minx:

  • A saucy, cunning, and boldly flirtatious young woman, known for causing trouble.
